The year long We Gatherin’ celebration starts in Barbados Jan 1 2020

2020 is the year of We Gatherin’ Barbados! – an event when Bajans from near and far are invited to gather on the island throughout the next 12 months to celebrate family, values and the future of the island.

The vision for such a national event, first shared by Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley on Independence Day 2018, has evolved into a grand celebration which will see community groups, churches, educational institutions, entrepreneurs, as well as regional and international persons with Barbadian connections , not only participating but producing events.

But the most phenomenal aspect of this celebration is that Bajans living abroad and Bajans at heart are being invited to return home, reconnect with family and friends and invest in the rebuilding of Barbados, throughout the year.

During each of the first 11 months a specific parish will be highlighted. The schedule of parishes is as follows:

  • January – St. Lucy
  • February – St. Peter
  • March – St. Thomas
  • April – St. Joseph
  • May – St. John
  • June – St. George
  • July – St. Philip
  • August – St. Andrew
  • September – St. James
  • October – Christ Church
  • November – St. Michael
  • November 30 – December 31 – Nationwide
